Currently, Google is testing a new feature on YouTube desktop player for the convenience of its users. While browsing other websites, users are unable to watch their favorite videos on YouTube.
According to a report by 9to5Google, YouTube is working on picture-in-picture mode function. The function is currently available in the YouTube mobile app for both Android as well as iOS platforms. Also, the desktop version of the latest YouTube player will come with the basic functions like play/pause, replay, and skip.
As they say, be a better version of yourself
What is YouTube Picture-in-Picture Mode?
We all are familiar with the YouTube application for smartphones. While browsing YouTube mobile app, users can minimize the playing video to a thumbnail size and continue watching. Similarly, the desktop version will also allow you to minimize any video to a floating window with basic controls options.
The floating window will appear in the bottom right corner of your desktop. Users can close the floating window anytime they want.
How YouTube Picture-in-Picture Mode Works?
- Just go to the official YouTube website and play any video, you wish to watch
- Now, click anywhere else on YouTube site or return to the homepage, perform a search on your search engine, or just browse different websites including social websites like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc, the video will continue to play as a floating window with Play/Pause, Replay, and Skip functions
- Users can only watch the video but they can’t control the audio from the floating window. To set volume users have to go to the YouTube website or lower down their system’s volume
How to Get YouTube Floating Window Feature for Desktop?
Google has sent invitations to its users to try this new feature. Currently, the latest feature is in A/B testing for small groups. If this test is available on your account, you can enjoy this cool feature by following the above-mentioned method.
But keep a small thing in mind, once you enable this feature, there is no way to disable it.
What is A/B Testing?
A/B testing which is also known as split testing or bucket testing is a method of comparing the two versions of any website, web page or application against each other to determine which version is better.
The free A/B split testing tool is really helpful to know whether your website’s design, messaging content, and layout is user-friendly or not on the basis of received feedback.
